KAS Youth4Innovation Fellowship

A capacity-building fellowship for young Ugandans working at the intersection of law, policy, and innovation.

Overview

The KAS Youth4Innovation Fellowship, delivered by CeLPII in partnership with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), builds the next generation of Ugandan leaders equipped to shape the legal and policy environment for innovation. Fellows undertake structured research, mentorship, and public-policy engagement over the course of the programme.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the pipeline of young Ugandan policy and legal talent in the innovation ecosystem
  • Produce high-quality, evidence-based policy outputs
  • Connect fellows with senior mentors across law, policy, and industry
  • Support fellows to publish, present, and engage with government stakeholders

Intended participants

Recent graduates and early-career professionals in law, public policy, economics, or related disciplines — with demonstrated interest in innovation, digital economy, climate, or the creative sector.

Activities

  • Structured research assignments with a senior CeLPII mentor
  • Policy writing workshops and editorial support
  • Field visits and stakeholder engagements
  • Presentation of findings at CeLPII convenings

Expected outcomes

  • Published policy briefs or working papers
  • Presented findings to policy stakeholders
  • Established professional network across the innovation ecosystem

Eligibility

  • Ugandan national or resident
  • Undergraduate degree in law, public policy, or related field
  • Strong written English and analytical skills
  • Commitment to attend all core programme dates

Application process

  1. Submit CV and one-page motivation letter
  2. Complete a short written policy exercise
  3. Interview with the CeLPII fellowship panel
